Review | Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong, Seoul

Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong, Seoul review travel blog
Choosing a hotel to host our stay in Seoul was easy for me and my mum. After reading numerous travel guides, we decided to stay in Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong because Myeongdong had the reputation of being the most popular shopping district in Seoul.

Situated around the corner from the bus stop that takes you directly to and from Incheon Airport, Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong cannot be more conveniently located for anyone that is new to the city. It's not hard to miss the hotel too, there's a massive 'greeting man' statue right outside of the building. It's actually quite useful having the statue there because you can get easily confused with the other Lotte hotel that is situated about 10 minutes away.  Tip - show a picture of the statue outside of the hotel to the bus/taxi driver to ensure you're being dropped off at the right hotel.

We stayed in a double room during our stay. The rooms weren't exactly big but that didn't put us off because the brown and earthy tones made our room feel warm and cosy. There was a large flat screen TV that had both Korean (obviously) and Western channels to keep us entertained in the evening after a full day's work of being tourists. The bed was really comfy too! There wasn't a night of bad sleep throughout our 5 night stay. Our room was on the 23rd floor of the building, which gave us great views of the city especially at night! If you're planning to stay there, make sure you ask for a high level room - you won't be disappointed.

The bathroom was also pretty small, but the powerful water pressure of the shower was absolutely amazing - exactly what we needed after an explorative day! It was also cool that the bathroom mirror was a steam de-misting mirror because it eliminated the need to wipe down the mirror or the need to wait for it to de-mist after a nice hot shower. I never thought I'd say this about a hotel, but the best feature of our room was the toilet itself! It's literally the techiest toilet I've ever experienced! What's cool about it is that it has a built in electronic bidet that you can control by a touch of a button. It has different buttons for different types of washes, drying speeds and even a button to heat the seat up before you perch your booty on it! Amazing.

Overall, me and my mum enjoyed our stay at the Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong. The service was great and the staff were attentive. They made sure that you were greeted with a bow every time you walked in and out of the hotel. I now understand why they have the 'greeting man' statue outside - to reflect their service! If you're looking for a hotel that's close to the popular tourist attractions, then Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong is the place to be. You can see the famous N. Seoul Tower from the hotel and it's only a 5 minute walk to the Myeongdong Shopping Street! What's even more convenient is that the Euljiro 3(sam)-ga Station is just right outside of the hotel. From there, you can take the metro trains to all of the popular attractions of Seoul. Click here to see where we visited and read about the top 9 things you need to do when you're there!

If you are looking to visit Seoul, you definitely need to check out Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong.
