A Night At Park Regis Hotel, Birmingham

Last Saturday, me and Sat headed back to where we first met and lived for the past 4 years - Birmingham. Since we'd spent the majority of our couple life in the city before moving back to our homes around 7 months ago, we could not pass at the chance to stay at the luxurious Park Regis Hotel.

Situated at the top of Broad Street, the 4* luxury hotel cannot be more conveniently located for anyone that is new to the city. A street full of bars, clubs, restaurants and even a cinema... what more do you want?! To be honest, anywhere that is practically next door to a Nandos and a cinema is practically perfect to us...

Arriving at the hotel, I was in awe of the décor throughout the lobby and reception. I love entering a hotel that make a great first impression with its design, as it shows how much the hotel cares about detail. After checking in, we were really looking forward to seeing our room. However, our mood (and a number of other hotel guests' mood) were dampened by the elevators. Despite pressing the correct buttons, we were all literally taken on a up and down ride on the elevators to different floors that weren't ours. It wasn't until 10 minutes after when a current guest told us that we needed to swipe our hotel card in order for it to work. We were all a bit annoyed (and felt a lil' stooopid) because the staff should've advised us all during check-in. Anyhow, the dampened mood didn't linger long because as soon as we entered our room on the 10th floor, we instantly brightened up.

We had the chance to stay in the Executive Room at Park Regis, which the hotel describes:

"The Park Regis Executive room offers unique, spacious, luxurious and richly styled accommodation with modern furnishings along with an area to relax and take in the amazing views of the city and beyond. Extra features include Bluetooth enabled music station, bathrobe & slippers."

The description wasn't wrong. It was indeed very spacious even with the plushy king-sized bed in the room. The walk-in rain shower was very powerful and the wonderful toiletries by The White Company were a nice touch. However, the things that topped it for me were definitely the thermostat (controlling the temperature to what you want is like a dream for a consistently cold granny like me), the black out curtains (nothing worse than having the glaring daylight wake you up on a sleep-in Sunday) and the view from our room which overlooked the city.

One other great thing about staying in an Executive Room is the access to their exclusive Executive Lounge on the 11th floor. It's a really stylish and chilled out area where you can relax, work and play. Oh not to mention the complimentary drinks and snacks that you're entitled to!

In the morning, we headed down to the dining area where the buffet breakfast was held. We totally did not expect to queue up to 15 minutes, it was insanely busy. Despite the wait, the breakfast was really tasty. Everything from the standard full English to pastries and breads, Park Regis' breakfast had it all. You could also get your eggs freshly cooked on the spot any way you like by the chef!

Overall, me and Sat thoroughly enjoyed our luxury stay at Park Regis in Birmingham. Apart from the initial elevator palava and the crazily huge queue for breakfast in the morning, our stay did run pretty smoothly. One negative thing that I would have to mention is that we had to pay for parking. I do get a little iffy with hotels charging guests to park their cars in their car park because I feel like it should already be included in the hotel rate. Other than that, I do think Park Regis is a great hotel and I would definitely stay there again. The classy and opulent décor and interior within the hotel lived up to its 'luxury' title, whist the Executive Room and Executive Lounge made us feel very relaxed and valued as a guest. Have you stayed at Park Regis before?
