Review | Milford Hall Hotel, Salisbury

The Milford Hall Hotel Salisbury Wiltshire Stonehenge Amesbury Restaurant Blog Review

Since I've been wanting to visit Stonehenge for a long time, my brother bought me a night at the Milford Hall Hotel in Salisbury, Wiltshire as my birthday gift earlier this year. As he purchased it from Secret Escapes (luxury flash-sale travel website), the hotel package included a one-night stay at the Grade II listed Georgian hotel, welcome prosecco, afternoon cream tea and breakfast in the morning. Last weekend, I visited the hotel with my boyfriend and I can honestly say that we both enjoyed our stay.

The Milford Hall Hotel is a short stroll away from Salisbury castle and only a 15 minute drive away from the famous Stonehenge. Offering complimentary car parking, the hotel is great for pleasure seekers who are looking to visit the town and surroundings. When we first arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the very friendly receptionist and was shown to our room by another member of staff.

Being housed in a Georgian building, our hotel room was very spacious and came with a standard sized bathroom. The room came with all the amenities like an hairdryer, iron, kettle, toiletries, dressing gowns etc. However, the best thing about the room was definitely the bed. It was super king sized and had a seriously plush mattress that allowed us to have a perfect night's sleep.

After settling into our room, we headed towards the courtyard for our afternoon cream tea that came with our package.

After being seated, the waiter came over with our glass of prosecco. Shortly after, our pot of tea and coffee were served to us alongside homemade scones with fresh cream and jam. Presented very elegantly on a 3-tiered plate stand, the scones were very delicious.

The hotel's AA Rosette restaurant is called Salisbury Seafood and Steak House. It was contemporarily designed and had a very warm and relaxed setting to it due to its evident mauve and neutral coloured theme. The restaurant also boasts a 24-hour room service menu, which we didn't manage to take advantage of, as we were put to sleep by our amazingly plush bed. As I was kindly invited by the hotel to review their 3 course menu, I will be doing a thorough detailed review on their restaurant on a separate blog post, so please stay tuned for that!

The Milford Hall Hotel Salisbury Wiltshire Stonehenge Amesbury Breakfast Blog Review

The next morning, we headed to their breakfast hall where we were able to help ourselves to a range of hot and cold selections. One thing you may be wondering is if they actually offer a full english breakfast. Answer is yes! They have mostly everything in the breakfast hall and if they didn't, you were able to request other items from their breakfast menu to be cooked fresh from their kitchen i.e. eggs cooked the way you liked, black pudding, porridge etc. When a hotel offer 'free breakfast', I always get a bit edgy as to what they actually serve. One huge pet peeve that I have with hotels is finding out that their breakfast is the typical continental kind that has the odd sausage to pass off as "hot selections." I was so glad that the Milford Hall Hotel actually serves both continental and full english to cater for everyone ('cause girl loves to eat! I need my hearty breakfast to set a good start to my day)!

Overall, we had a really great and comfortable stay at the Milford Hall Hotel. It was close to Stonehenge, which was the main reason we came to visit. I have to say, the experience that we had at the hotel was very 'British.' Being in a very historic and medieval city, the hotel really fitted in with the city's feel - especially with the interior and the afternoon cream tea that we had! The service was exceptional by all members of staff but I want to specifically thank one friendly lady named Sharon. When we first arrived at the hotel, Sharon was the one that made sure we both felt welcomed. When we checked-out of the hotel and started to drive to Bath for our day trip before home, I remembered that I left my ring on the table in our room. The sudden horror knowing that I may not be able to retrieve it back due to house-keeping, I rang the hotel and Sharon personally went to find it and when she did, she offered to post it out to my house, as we were quite far away from the hotel. I was so relieved and I'm so thankful to her, as the ring is really special to me.
