Review | Pesto Restaurant, Wolvey

Pesto Restaurant in Wolvey, Hinckley, Review
Italian food has always been something that I have to be in the mood for to eat. I'm not a huge pasta or pizza person, so I always find it hard to order when I'm at an Italian restaurant because I get bored of eating it too easily. However... that was before I discovered Pesto.

Pesto was actually recommended to me by my brother. The whole concept of Pesto is that they serve tapas-style Italian food, which is great because it gives you the chance to taste a selection of dishes rather than committing to one main.

With eight locations dotted around the UK, Pesto Restaurant in Wolvey has a very lively and relaxed atmosphere in a pub setting. In the Winter, you can enjoy the open fire. Whilst in the Summer, you can take advantage of their garden and dine outside.

On their menu, the majority of their dishes are priced under £5.00 and I would say that three dishes per head is the perfect amount to order and share amongst yourselves (that's if you're a sharer, of course). We dined as a family of six and 18 small-plate dishes were enough to fill us all up.

One of my favourite starter dishes at Pesto is the Calamari Fritti, which is a plate full of deep fried seasoned calamari rings with an amazing garlic mayo dip. Another favourite of mine is the Patate Campagna, a sautéed potato dish cooked with garlic, chilli, onion and sun-dried tomato. I really love this dish because it is full of flavour and amazingly garlicky (which I love).

For mains, I absolutely love the Linguine Al Cartoccio Con Gamberoni - a linguine dish cooked and baked to perfection in parchment paper with king prawns, chilli, garlic, chopped tomatoes and white wine. The Pizzettes are mini pizzas that we always like to order when we visit Pesto. This time we tried the Pizzette Piccante Con Salsiccia, which had spicy Italian sausage and jalapeños on it. The texture was nice and crispy whilst the toppings gave the perfect spicy kick.

Overall, the concept of Pesto Restaurant is right up my street! With numerous amounts of delicious small plates on Pesto's menu, Pesto is the place to be if you're like me whereby you can't stick to one dish when it comes to Italian food. This place would also be an Italian food lover's dream with many choices to choose from and taste.
