Ruby Who? Ruby Woo!

I hardly ever branch out of the red lip when it comes to a night out or a special event. The main or shall I say 'only' red lipstick that I ever wear is MAC Ruby Woo and I'm going to tell you why no other red lipstick will ever knock Ruby Woo off my vanity table.

Ruby Woo has been one of the most popular colours made by MAC. The bold red lipstick has a slight bluish undertone and gives a complete opaque coverage. Most red lipsticks emphasises teeth discolouration but due to Ruby Woo's undertone, it actually gives the wearer the illusion of having the perfect set of white teeth. What more can you want ayy?!

Every time that I know I'll be wearing this, I always have to prep my lips the night before. As this lipstick has a truly matte formula, it does cling onto any dry patches on your lips and will make you look like an athlete's foot even if you try adding a balm before or on top. (Bit of an exaggeration there, but you know what I'm getting at.) So yes, exfoliation is definitely key if you're planning to sport this retro matte shade.

As the texture is so matte, the lipstick tends to drag during application. This is the only negative thing I don't like about Ruby Woo because it makes it harder to apply the product on precisely.

However, the best thing about MAC Ruby Woo is it's staying power. Never have I ever come across a lipstick with the staying power that this lipstick has. I'm the type of girl who is lazy when it comes to reapplication. I either forget or couldn't be bothered with it, which is why I used to stick to lipstains. The longevity is around 6 hours, which is amazing for a lipstick alone! I wear Ruby Woo on nights-out and the colour still stays perfectly on my lips at the end of the night despite enduring hours of constant singing and drinking.

Priced at £15, it does seem like it's a bit too steep for just a lipstick. However, with it's staying power, colour and performance, it's totally worth it!

What are your thoughts on MAC's Ruby Woo? I'm sure many of you have already tried this product before.

  1. I'm such a bad beauty blogger - I don't own one mac lipstick! I'm surprised you've mentioned the staying power cause I've heard other wise from my friends. The colour is absolutely lovely though!

    1. Oh my god, you have to get yourself one now that you've confessed! ;) You won't regret it! I think it depends on which type of MAC lipsticks you purchase. You just have to make sure you're buying from their matte range :) x

  2. This color look SO gorgeous on you. It's that perfect pop of red. I love that it has fabulous staying power. I'm also pretty lazy when it comes to reapplying my lipstick. Jeez, this one summer where I went through a phase of wearing really dark purple lipstick...that was a real lesson in discipline, haha!
